Shipping & Handling

 Freight & Logistics Policy

At U.S. Barricades, we understand that timely and reliable delivery is critical to keeping your project on schedule. To provide fast and efficient transport directly to your jobsite, we partner with a trusted network of independent commercial truckers.

To minimize transit time and lower freight costs, all orders are routed and shipped nationwide from the manufacturing facility closest to your destination.

Equipment & Transport Methods

We match the freight equipment to the specific weight, dimensions, and loading requirements of your infrastructure materials:

Product CategoryTransport MethodLoading & Access
Heavy Precast ConcreteFlatbed TrucksOpen-deck transport allows for easy side or top-loading, ensuring seamless offloading by crane or heavy-duty forklift at your jobsite.
Steel GuardrailsDry VansEnclosed transport protects steel components during transit while accommodating standard loading dock or forklift access.

Jobsite Delivery Note: Because we deliver heavy-duty infrastructure materials via commercial flatbeds and dry vans, please ensure your jobsite or facility has adequate space for a 53-foot trailer to maneuver, as well as the appropriate heavy equipment required for offloading.

Receiving & Offloading Responsibilities

Due to the heavy-duty nature of our infrastructure materials, delivering to a commercial facility or active jobsite requires preparation. Please review the following responsibilities to ensure a smooth, penalty-free delivery.

Equipment & Personnel Requirements

U.S. Barricades and our contracted freight carriers are responsible for transportation only. Drivers do not offload freight.

It is the customer's responsibility to provide the appropriate personnel and heavy equipment (such as cranes, high-capacity forklifts, or heavy loaders) required to safely offload precast concrete and steel guardrails upon arrival.

Detention Fees

Freight carriers allocate a standard time window (typically 2 hours) for offloading once the truck arrives at your site. Delays in offloading tie up commercial equipment and will result in hourly detention fees. Any detention or layover fees incurred due to a lack of equipment, unprepared jobsites, or personnel shortages will be billed directly to the customer.

Inspection & Damage Protocol

Your signature on the delivery receipt or Bill of Lading (BOL) serves as legal acknowledgment that the freight was received in full and in good condition. Do not sign the BOL until you have fully inspected the delivery.

Please follow these steps immediately upon the truck's arrival:

1.Verify the Item Count: Before signing anything.

Count all barriers, bundles, pallets, and loose components to ensure the total matches the driver's BOL and your original packing slip.

2.Inspect for Transit Damage: Visual check.

Thoroughly inspect the material for visible signs of freight damage, such as scraped steel, significantly chipped concrete, broken banding, or shifted loads.

3.Document on the BOL: Crucial for freight claims.

If there is damage or a shortage, you must write a specific description of the issue directly on the driver’s copy of the BOL before signing (e.g., "Received 2 fewer guardrails than stated," or "1 concrete barrier cracked on the edge"). If you sign a clean BOL, we cannot file a freight claim on your behalf.

4.Capture Photo Evidence:

Take clear photographs of any damage. For the strongest freight claim, take photos of the damaged material while it is still loaded on the truck, followed by close-up photos after it has been safely offloaded.

5.Report to U.S. Barricades:

Contact our support team within 24 hours of delivery, providing your order number, the noted BOL, and all photographic evidence so we can resolve the issue and initiate a claim with the carrier.

Standard Nationwide Transit Times

Once your freight is loaded onto a commercial flatbed or dry van, transit times depend on the distance from our closest manufacturing facility to your jobsite.

The following transit times are estimates for standard over-the-road freight:

  • Midwest / Central: 1–2 Business Days

  • East & West Coast: 1–4 Business Days

  • Alaska, Hawaii, & Puerto Rico: Contact us for specialized freight routing and maritime transit times.

Expedited Freight: If you have an emergency repair or face immediate regulatory deadlines, expedited commercial transport (such as dedicated hotshot flatbeds) is available. Please call our sales team directly to confirm availability and receive a custom freight quote.
